First woven in the 1920s, this USA-made wool blanket has been one of our most popular designs ever since. Chief Joseph led the Nez Perce tribe native to northeastern Oregon in the late 1800s. Widely admired for protecting his people and speaking the truth, he is honored with this design, symbolizing bravery. Bold arrowheads represent the chief's courage, strength and integrity. Reverses for two different looks.
- Rosewood color: A portion of the proceeds support women’s health through N. A. R. A. (Native American Rehabilitation Association).
- Twin is 64" x 80"; Queen is 90" x 90"
- King is 108" x 90"; pattern will be rotated 90°

When the U.S. government ordered the Nez Perce onto reservations in Idaho, Chief Joseph resisted, leading his band toward Canada. Considered a brilliant strategist, he won many battles against great odds. In 1877 he surrendered to save his people from a harsh winter with little food and no blankets. The Chief Joseph design includes Native American symbols of strength and bravery, attributes of this great chief whose courage and determination won him respect in times of peace and war.

<span itemprop="description">Beautiful blanket. Someone in charge, however, needs to review the measurements for their blankets. I bought a Pendleton bedspread about 15 years ago that still looks beautiful. However, that spread is a king and fits my queen bed perfectly. The queen Pendleton was too small. The blanket I am reviewing here is a king and fits the queen bed. It is very long and fits like a bedspread, meaning it can fold over the pillows like a bedspread does. The blanket needs to be about 10 inches wider to fit the way it should and hang down about 5 inches more on either side. Apparently, Pendleton does not make bedspreads anymore, just blankets. Too bad. Why would someone want to buy a beautiful Pendleton blanket and cover it with a spread made by some other company? They need to rethink their blankets and spreads. Make the size names fit the size of the bed, too. I don’t know how anyone can cover a king sized bed with a king sized Pendleton blanket. It wouldn’t even hang over the sides. And, they need to go back to making bedspreads and when they do, they need to make them big enough to fit the appropriate beds.</span>

<span itemprop="description">We love our blanket, but we selected an embroidery and when the blanket arrived, the placement of the embroidery was right on top of a dark area in the fabric- terrible spot! The embroidery is barely visible and it seems so ridiculous to have opted for it (plus it took ages and now it doesn’t feel like it was worth it). We’re pretty disappointed.</span>

Our Chief Joseph Blankets have a napped surface; the fabric is combed for a softer, thicker feel. Everyone has different personal sensitivity to wool fiber, however so it is hard to say how you will feel.
