I called customer service and asked if I had gotten someone else's returned item, and was told they don't keep track of that. Do I want to go through the hassle of returning it myself because of this? No. However, I'll think twice about ordering from Pendleton in the future.</span>

I read that 70% of anti shrinkage finishes in the industry are done with a chlorine polymide process, which involves chemical toxins, chlor and plastic coating...im lookingfor a natural undyed wool...not this...hoping this finish is natural....thank you..

Untreated wool fibers have scales on the surface. During washing, movement is created between fibers which interlock them causing shrinkage and joining of the wool fibers. Adding a chemical treatment to wool fibers smooths the fiber surface, so they are not bonded together during washing. The actual chemical treatment and finishing process is proprietary to the mill.

Shetland Wool, if cared for very carefully, can be washed naturally. We checked with our yarn mill and they have told us they use an anti-shrinkage finishing during spinning to further help make the finished garment washable.
