Inspired by pieced quilts, Opal Springs offers a modern take on a traditional craft. Near the tiny town of Culver, early travelers to Oregon found a natural spring within a plunging gorge on the Lower Crooked River. Transfixed by jewel-like stones bubbling up in the icy waters, they named this place Opal Springs. This pattern uses a quilt-like arrangement of shapes to show the movement and beauty of those stones--naturally polished agates--churning in fresh springwater.
