Mostly Outstanding
The good: The wool flannel fabric has a wonderful hand and that alone puts any competition to shame. It’s among the best quality shirt I’ve ever owned. The collar and styling has also been refined since I last owned a Pendleton shirt, and the fit is pretty good. It will be around after I’m gone. The less good (for me, not everyone): I’m a size medium, but have long arms, so I wish the sleeves were a half inch or more longer. The fit is a bit trim for me, but that’s probably because COVID and advancing age have conspired to give me a pot belly.

If you've never owned one before it might be OK
Sadly I've been wearing Pendleton flannel shirts my entire life and also have inherited my father's and grandfather's to compare it to. This shirt simply isn't a good value anymore. I can live with the weave, it is what it is and people want a different fabric weight, and the stitching is still OK, and there were some luxuries with how the lining around the collar and yoke has been done that weren't absolutely necessary which are now gone. But the cut and overall construction quality is so much lower that even compared to the shirts I purchased in 2015 it looks like a factory 2nd. My oldest shirts have no pleating, simply gathered in the back and at the sleeves, when they changed to pleated back and gathered sleeves that was still nice, my 3 shirts from 2009-2016 have pleated backs and 2 pleats in the sleeves, which is still acceptable, this shirt has large pleats, a weird almost gusset under the arm, and then 1 giant pleat at the cuff adding almost 2" of fabric immediately making it billow like an 1800s period costume. The armscye is just...weird. No other words for it, just weird. The shoulder to shoulder measurement is about 1" shorter compared to the 2009-2016 shirts, which is an improvement and a step back/closer to the pre 1994 shirt pattern, the top sleeve measurement is also about 1" longer which actually increases the top sleeve length marginally which is nice. Sadly the elbow patch is both too high (ends up at my bicep) and centered on the button (which means it's off center when you bend your arm), the worse part is the arm legnth along the seam, it's approximately 2" shorter than any other Pendleton in my closet at ony 19", which puts the sleeve at about a 30 degre angle from the body and makes it all but impossible to actually move or raise your arms bespute the awkward bunch of fabric added to the body in the armit to try to accomodate larger wearers. The overall center back length is about 1" shorter than any of my other Pendletons as well, so good luck keeping this tucked in. The collar is about 2" larger as well, and the button for it, when buttoned, doesn't line up the pattern like it does on my other pendletons and causes a weird fold in the collar, simply put, even when unbuttoned the neck/collar gives the impression of a worn out and stretched t-shirt rather than a collared shirt. My other Pendletons are are only steam cleaned, or spot cleaned as needed and have never been washed in hot water or machine dried so they haven't shrunk noticably.
