Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original Westerley Blk/Cream You were out of my wife's size in this colour around Christmas, By Grace one was in stock when I ordered for St. Valentine's Day (now you are out of stock again!!) My wife is "Happy as a clam at high tide" She LOVES her Westerley. It looks good on her, it fits, & is really warm. The zipper appears to be sturdy too so I'm sure we'll get many years of enjoyment...Thanks Pendleton

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The WARMEST sweater I own! OK, it is an iconic design and look. But how does if feel and fit? I'm 5'9", 185# fit build and the medium is perfect. The sweater is so dense that it is incredibly warm without being incredibly heavy. Will double as a jacket in spring/fall temps. Super soft fabric, not at all scratchy like most heavy woolens. Pricey, sure, but a lifetime investment with the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Receive Many Compliments Regarding My Westerly S I purchased the Original Westerly sweater and wore it recently the first time in public at a party. Immediately two young men expressed with laughter how much they liked the sweater. That made me happy. Of course. Also, it feels wonderful, fits great, and is not overly itchy even when wearing a shirt sleeve shirt in dry Southern California. It seems well made as well. It was fairly expensive but worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go Big LeBowski! I grew up skiing and this is the most comfortable sweater I have ever owned. It is also versatile in that it can be worn casually, but has an expensive look to it. I have worn it to church and feel well-dressed. I weigh 300-lbs and stand 6'3" and the XXL fits beautifully! I love this sweater!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite article of clothing! This is by far my favorite article of clothing! It is extremely warm and comfortable. It may be a little itchy at first but as you wear it that goes away. This is the only article of clothing I've ever considered buying for a second time just because I want a back up. I wear this as a sweater jacket as much as I can and I get compliments daily. It's a very recognizable sweater because of the Fantastic film The Big Lebowski. Just buy it, you won't be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sweater in my arsenal I can remember 10 minutes into my first viewing of The Big Lebowski, thinking “this movie is destined to become a cult classic”. Fast forward 25 years and the Westerley entered my life. After 5 years of consistent wear, here’s my take on this classic artifact of fashion, film, and functionality: 1. There’s nothing I own that works better in the Pacific Northwest - this sweater is perfectly comfortable in such a wide range of temperatures and conditions. From 35 degrees, breezy, with light rain to sitting inside at 70 degrees, I’m happy. The thickness matched with the open-knit vertically ribbed design is genius. Plus it’s heavy enough that a walk to the coffee shop in slight rain never soaks through, and it dries very quickly. The high lanolin content keeps it very water resistant. It’s so versatile that I often wear it under a down jacket for snowy hikes, to keep me warm on the way down. When I get toasty, just unzip the super-smooth, rugged pull zipper to air out. No sweaty mess for me on difficult uphill climbs. 2. That zipper!! You’re going to love the functionality of it. 3. I hung it on a hanger for a while - whoops! - stretched shoulders aren’t a good look, it’s far too heavy. But to my surprise, my trusted dry cleaners blocked it perfectly, and it came back looking exactly like it did on day one, two years earlier! It might stretch out a little, but it can be restored to its original glory. Also, all the little beer / wine / coffee stains came out no problem. Now I lay it flat and it doesn’t get stretched out over time. 4. For my body type, it was far too large. I like clothes that fit, not baggy and not snug. I want the shoulder seams to fall right on the natural curve of my shoulders at their widest. Thus I went with an extra-small. I’m pretty slim, 5’11”. For reference, my Pendleton shirts are small, Levi’s shirts and jackets are all medium. 5. Stains are not a big issue. If you catch them quickly, you can blot them away with a paper towel. I’ve had great luck with a group of products called Stain Devils that are made specifically for different types of stains - there are nine “flavors” and they work wonders - not just for this sweater. The dry cleaner (only taken once in 5 years) can handle the eventual grimy sleeves, neck, & elbows. 6. It was a little bit scratchy at first, but softened up over time. That said, I still wear it with a long sleeve shirt under, usually just a merino wool undershirt - all wool all day baby! Also, pilling hasn’t been a problem at all. 7. Style wise, I got the cream/brown/black original design. The fact that it has both brown and black makes matching hats or shoes a breeze. 8. All told, please don’t buy this sweater if you live in Portland, OR. I used to be the only guy in my neighborhood with it, now I see them everywhere. Or at least do me a favor and get the black and red one. Thanks!!

I'm 5'9 200 lbs chest size 45 1/4. What size do you suggest for a comfortable fit. Dont dig restrictive or overly baggy ? Do these run big ?

Asked by: Stuart
Our Westerley Sweater has a slightly relaxed fit. Looking at the size chart on the product page, located above the color selection, with your chest measurement you might like the XL.

What is the button on the back of the collar for. I find nothing to button it to?

Asked by: Bill
We checked with our design team and there really isn't an answer to why the small clear button is on the underside of the collar.
