Pendleton's iconic Chief Joseph pattern becomes an exquisite statement piece, thanks to talented designer Lindsey Thornburg. Crafted from one of Pendleton's USA-woven wool jacquard blankets, each cloak is hand-cut, then sewn and finished in Lindsey's Manhattan studio. The bell-shaped silhouette features horn toggle closures, oversized raglan sleeves, a large cocoon hood, two welted patch pockets and a swingy fit for easy layering. Each cloak weighs 6 lbs. and is appropriate for mountain winters. Fully lined.
Chief Joseph commemorates one of the Northwest's greatest Nez Perce warriors. In honor of his bravery, Pendleton donates a portion of the sales from all Chief Joseph products to nonprofit organizations that facilitate medical careers for Native students, and the preservation of Native languages.

His Nez Perce name, "Hin-mah-too-yah-let-kert," means Thunder Rolling Down Mountain. Chief Joseph led the Nez Perce tribe away from the US Cavalry, traveling more than 1,400 miles in severe conditions for three months. Widely admired for protecting his people and speaking the truth. The Chief Joseph pattern's arrow heads symbolize bravery, and point East, South, West and North, the sacred Four Directions of Mother Earth.
