Additional Information

A USA-made wool blanket created in partnership with contemporary Navajo painter Andrew Hobson. Buffalos are not typically associated with Navajo culture. So when Mr. Hobson discovered this story of how the buffalo evolved in Navajo legend, he was fascinated: Buffalo became angry with Holy Man for having two buffalo women as his wives. Holy Man killed the angry buffalo, but then all buffalos began to die. Saddened, Holy Man brought the buffalo back to life and showed him how to revive all the other buffalo. On the blanket design, the buffalo is fractured in pieces to symbolize his death and journey back to life. Four buffalo tribes are shown inside protective medicine hoops, and the four sacred mountain ranges of the Navajo surround the central buffalo. The abstract rainbow symbolizes Hobson’s personal Yeii, or protective deity. Part of our Legendary Collection, this design honors stories and symbols of Native American cultures. Each year a new USA-made collector’s blanket is added to the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality Love this blanket. The colors are vivid and the wool is of high quality. Looks beautiful over my couch. I couldn't be happier. In fact, I'm going to order another one in a different design, in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Up to the standards one expects of the Pendleton Company. Am giving the mug/cup and blanket with the Buffalo design as Christmas gifts. So have not taken them of of the packages other then to check condition on arrival. Am pleased by what I see and the care in shipping. Have a blanket (with the stripes) that was purchased about 30 years ago and is still in fine condition !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly cozy blanket I received this blanket as a gift and being particular about my blankets was surprisingly pleased by the softness and style of this blanket. I have used this blanket to curl up in the couch to watch TV, wrap up in on my porch to read, and bundle up in whole camping to admire the stars. The design is timeless and beautiful, the quality is incredible. I highly recommend this blanket to anyone even remotely interested.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed The actual blanket duller than pictured, and the texture is not that of other Pendleton blankets I've ordered in the past. It is underwhelming, and I plan to return it.
