On a rocky mesa above the Chama River in northern New Mexico sits the village of Abiquiu, thought to be the beginning of the Old Spanish Trail, linking Santa Fe and Los Angeles. Native Americans inhabited the river valley for thousands of years before the Spanish established a small town here in the early 1700s. In 1949, artist Georgia O'Keeffe was drawn to Abiquiu's mesas and mountains sculpted by wind, water and time. She lived and painted there for more than 40 years, inspired both by the landscape and Native American art and culture. This wool blanket, woven in our American mills, reflects the beauty of Abiquiu's natural red rock cliffs at sunset, layered in bands of color—gold, brown, purple and maroon.

<span itemprop="description">The design is beautiful, but the feel and quality of the blanket is well below that of other Pendleton products (rougher and thinner), including another Pendleton blanket purchased just two months earlier for the same price. It's beautiful, but disappointing. The website should make clear that not only the designs, but the weight and quality of the blankets differ considerably.</span>

Other than that, it is a gorgeous, brilliant blanket. It's also warm.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I have wanted to purchase a Pendleton blanket for a long time, but thought I couldn't really afford one. When my old woolen blanket finally got so thin from wear it started to tear, I decided the time had come. I purchased a Queen size to drape over my King-size waterbed (yes, people do still own waterbeds!). The Abiquiu Sunset design was a tough choice because Pendleton offers so many gorgeous competitors, but the colors were so warm and inviting I couldn't resist. Having visited Abiquiu myself, I would say the colors are spot on. Once I spread this hefty-but-not-heavy woolen wonder out on the bed, it transformed my entire bedroom. It is beautifully made; soft and lush fibers; the edges bound with a soft, pliable synthetic leather; the colors are rich and bold, but there is subtlety in the design you may not notice on the website photo. I think this may be the most exquisite textile I have ever owned. It was worth every penny. I want to buy a blanket for everyone I love, they are that fabulous.</span>
