PENDLETON 'COUNTING SHEEP' TO RAISE FUNDS FOR SEATTLE CHILDREN'S PLAYGARDEN
Special Blanket Offered at 2012 Northwest Flower & Garden Show
PORTLAND, Ore. (January 22, 2012) Pendleton has teamed up with the Northwest Home & Garden Show (Feb. 8 - 12, 2012 at the Washington State Convention Center, Seattle) to offer a limited edition "Counting Sheep" Eco-Wise Wool ™ baby blanket. All proceeds of this unique blanket benefit the Seattle Children's PlayGarden. The new Muchacho (baby) blanket will be on featured at the Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool display at the Show.
Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool® has earned the coveted Cradle-to-Cradle Silver Certification by MBDC (www.c2ccertified.com), a respected product and process design firm dedicated to promoting sustainable production. The ingredients and manufacturing process meet or exceed the sustainability criteria for this certification.
"Color and quality wool fabrics have been the hallmark of Pendleton's mills for more than a century," says Robert Christnacht who leads the Home Division and spearheaded the effort with Pendleton's Northwest mills to create the new fabrics. "Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool does more than just look and feel wonderful. Our goal is to manufacture wool in a way that leaves the smallest footprint on the earth. From the sheep to the shelf, we have looked at the sustainability of all our practices, including packaging materials."
In addition to the Counting Sheep blanket, a wide variety of Pendleton Home products and select Pendleton apparel for men and women are made with Eco-Wise Wool. Truly exceptional in the industry today, the Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool product is woven in the company's own Pacific Northwest mills. Pendleton has relationships with wool growers in the U.S. that span multiple generations. "Some of the wool for Eco-Wise Wool comes from sheep growers we've worked with for over 100 years in Oregon," says Mort Bishop, president, Pendleton Woolen Mills. "Couple that fact with six generations of wool weaving and dyeing experience for almost 150 years, since 1863, and the story is even richer."
The blankets can be pre-ordered at www.gardenshow.com for $60 or purchased at the show for $64 (regularly priced at $74). In addition, show tickets purchased online or at participating outlets can be redeemed for 20% off one regular-priced Pendleton apparel item at participating Pendleton retail locations in Washington and Oregon. Offer expires Feb. 29, 2012.
