Pendleton Announces New Appointments; Strategic Global Plans



PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 27, 2010) – Pendleton Woolen Mills today announces two recent appointments to its management team as part of a broader strategy to transform the national iconic brand into a worldwide name.

After months of consulting with company management and President Mort Bishop III, Pendleton appointed Bill Lawrence as CEO. Bill has over 30 years experience working with vertically integrated consumer product companies, including retail apparel and skin care among other industry segments. Bill is working with Pendleton to improve efficiencies and prepare for future growth. In his role as CEO he will execute a long term strategic plan that will build upon the international enthusiasm for the brand and facilitate long term growth.

"Pendleton is an authentic brand that represents the best of American heritage and culture," says Lawrence. "Our company is poised to become an iconic worldwide brand. We have already seen this with our own expansion into parts of Asia and Europe and now the international exposure has intensified through exciting collaborations with Opening Ceremony, Levi's, Nike and Hurley. We are also beginning to see it with the recent trade announcement of Pendleton, The Portland Collection. We believe these opportunities are significant and represent an important element of our strategic plan."

To support this strategy, Pendleton appointed Mary Richter to a new position as Chief Creative Officer/ Brand Manager. In this role, she will provide creative leadership, direction and inspiration to the design and marketing teams, and communicate brand direction across all business channels.

Richter spent 22 years with Nordstrom in Seattle, Washington holding numerous positions including: Creative Director – Nordstrom Product Group and Divisional Vice President, Brand Manager – Nordstrom Product Group. She brings extensive experience leading the creative process for product development in both men's and women's apparel. Her experience includes providing the strategy and vision for design, merchandising, sourcing, production, and marketing of a brand portfolio.

"I began working immediately to strengthen the design and visual representation of the brand in all of our market segments." says Richter.
