It doesn't smell like chemicals or dye. I am a true Large and the large perfectly fits me. I avoid button ups as a rule (36Gs are impossible to fit) - but this has VERY minor gapping with zero exposure. I'm very impressed by the fit and cut. I'm excited to wear this through 3 seasons and travel! The sizing is generous, as is typical with Pendleton. I have broad shoulders and some fitted shirts are tight across the shoulders, but this fits fine. The wool is soft to the touch and a little heavier than I expected, so I think it will be warm. ** Be very careful with choosing a size. I weigh 116 lbs and would normally fit in a size small, but I could tell from the photos that the shirt is cut very narrow. Since I like a loose fit, I decided to take a chance on a size Large. Well, this barely fits me, it is cut so small. If I stand straight I would say it fits ok, but if I move my arms it pulls tightly across the shoulders and back. The arm holes are also cut very tiny. I have small arms - the doctor has to use a child's blood pressure cuff on me. The arm holes on this shirt are uncomfortably tight on me. So if you have more normal sized arms, this shirt will probably not fit you. Finally, a small nitpick -- a lot of the buttonholes have loose threads that catch on the buttons.
