Additional Information

This USA-made wool blanket honors the ocean’s abundance, referencing a legend of the Yurok, the original people of Northern California along the Klamath River. In the beginning there was no ocean, just prairie. Then Thunder and Earthquake agreed that the people would live better if they had an ocean. So Earthquake traveled faraway with a Kingfisher, bringing back water in abalone shells. As they went, Earthquake sank the land at the north end of the world behind them. At the south end of the world, Thunder helped by breaking down trees. Soon the water extended all the way from the north to the south end of the world, and there were plentiful salmon and seals. This intricate pattern incorporates repeated triangular and zigzag designs seen in Yurok basketry. The ombré effect emulates the mighty shaking of Earthquake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really great blanket. I have quite a few of their shirts, but this was my first Pendleton blanket, and I really love it. Warm, vibrant colors look great. The little blend of cotton in there makes it nice and soft. I'm gonna be snuggled up under this all winter!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a fan, really scratchy fabric I have seen pendleton blankets before in a thrift store near me and they were extremely soft and cozy so i decided to get one. Unfortunately this blanket has a really scratchy fabric and didn't live up to my expectations

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I do love this blanket Once it arrived, I could see I was going to show the brighter, redder side rather than the ivory side. It is beautiful in my room. Love the legend, especially carrying the water in the abalone shells! P.S. I live very near the Northern California Coast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, and a FamilyTradition This blanket is a Christmas gift for my adult daughter. When I was her age, I was given a wool blanket for Christmas from my mother. Over the years, my mother and grandmother continued to gift me with wool blankets. I want to do the same for my children. Right now they may seem an unusual gift to them, but they will appreciate them more and more over the years. And Pendleton is the best and most traditional of all.
