It's a sweater that I plan to have for a long time. It does run a bit large. I am normally a 1X to 2X, and I ordered the XL. It's a little big in the shoulders but otherwise it fits great.</span>

Shetland wool yarns have a larger diameter so have a natural coarse texture which some people find itchy on their skin - it will depend on your personal sensitivity to the fibers. Most Shetland sweaters are meant to be worn over a shirt or tee so you get the warmth and keep a layer between you and the fibers. If you are looking for a super soft texture, then look for lambswool or Merino wool which have much finer yarns so will have a smoother, softer texture against your skin. You will find most socks and layering tees are made from merino wool because of its superfine texture and softness.
