Spirit Peaks Sham
Our Spirit Peaks pattern was inspired by the design of an old Navajo rug. The name reflects the four Sacred Mountains in Navajo culture. Navajo call themselves Diné or "the people." Diné Bikeya, the homeland of the people, lies between four Sacred Mountains. Each of the mountains is associated with one of the four directions and has a color relating to natural stones. Mount Blanca (White Shell Peak) lies to the east in Colorado, Mount Taylor (Blue Turquoise Mountain) to the south in New Mexico, San Francisco Peak (Yellow Abalone Shell) to the west in Arizona and Mount Hesperus (Black Jet Mountain) to the north in Colorado. The Spirit Peaks pattern features a traditional Navajo design of narrow stripes. A triangular stepped pattern represents mountains and forms wavy bands. Detailed arrow images (objects of protection) are woven within bands of red, a color of protection. Unnapped, whipstitch binding. 82% pure virgin wool/18% cotton. Dry clean. Made in the USA. Standard sham fits 20" x 26" pillow.
