The pattern is representative of traditional Southwest Native American art. The nine-element design arises from that of early Navajo Chief blankets and includes three rows of three central designs. The sophisticated combination of stripes, crosses, triangles and diamond motifs is common in chief blankets. Arrows, another common motif, signify movement, power and the life force. In keeping with tradition, the pattern continues to the edges of the design in the belief that this would prevent evil spirits from being trapped within. The unnapped finish gives a crispness to the geometric shapes and right angles. Sham reverses red to purple. 82% pure virgin wool/18% cotton. Dry clean. Made in the USA.
