Diamond Ranch Quilt Sham
As the buffalo disappeared, Northern plains Indians of Montana and the Dakotas replaced buffalo robes with quilts. One of the most recognizable designs is the Morning Star, adapted in the late 1800s from the traditional Lone Star pattern. Its eight-point design was extremely difficult to create the mosaic of tiny diamonds radiating out from the center took long hours of careful cutting, perfect placement and skillful handstitching.
