John Colter explored the American West as a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Later, during the winter of 1807-1808, Colter became the first non-indigenous explorer to enter the area around what is now Yellowstone Park. His accounts of the spectacular area helped build support for the eventual protection of the Yellowstone Valley as a National Park. Because he spent extended periods of time alone in the wilderness, Colter became the first of the famous "Mountain Men."

This special "Colter Edition" Old Faithful blanket is woven in our Northwest mill and signed by John Colter's direct descendant, James Coulter, who spells the surname with a "u." Mr. Coulter continues the legacy of commitment to the wilderness and Yellowstone National Park. For each blanket sold, Pendleton is donating $45 to the Yellowstone Park Foundation. 100% pure virgin wool. Dry clean. Made in the USA. 64" x 80".
