Lindsey Thornburg

Lindsey Thornburg made her first cape from a vintage Pendleton blanket given to her by her grandfather. It was 2006 and the beginning of a cloak-and-swagger era in the fashion world. Soon, we at Pendleton were seeing our fabulous Native American-inspired jacquard fabrics showing up on gorgeous cape-wearers on the trendy streets of Manhattan and in style blogs such as The Sartorialist. Of course we got in touch with Lindsey.

Like Pendleton Woolen Mills, Lindsey Thornburg grew up in the West (in Montana and Colorado) and there were always Pendleton blankets around. From New York City she traveled to the Peruvian highland of Machu Picchu where she was inspired by the colorful attire of the native mountain dwellers. Soon after, she created her first cloak using a Pendleton blanket.


Buell Tribute #2



Our Buell Tribute #2 Blanket transformed into a beautiful Trench Cloak by Lindsey Thornburg. Love those big pockets!

Lindsey says of her cloaks, "My cloaks don't have any seams so Pendleton's breathtaking fabrics aren't obstructed by any style lines or seams. My cloak is simply a canvas for the Pendleton textiles to drape and take form. Not only are the cloaks like a piece of art, they also will keep you warm throughout the coldest of winters." Pendleton is thrilled to be involved in creating these practical masterpieces crafted from fabrics woven in our American mills.

The Los Ojos Trench Cloak captures all the drama of our black-and-white Los Ojos Blanket.


Pendleton by Lindsey Thornburg Cloaks are wonderfully warm and flowy with water-resistant rayon/silk linings and flattering, encompassing hoods. We don't think fashion and function have ever been married quite so elegantly.
