The Apparel Technical Design Manager has responsibility for the oversight of internal and external Apparel Technical Design (Patterning) functions and internal Knitwear Development functions for Pendleton Men's and Women's Apparel, which includes style pattern and initial technical specification development, and the evaluation and revision of style prototypes to achieve a fit and aesthetically correct product, along with Silhouette Fit Block Program oversight. This is a full-time exempt position.

Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising, Design, and Planning Teams to provide input to create executable development schedules, and manage to those schedules to insure on time pattern development performance for both Menswear and Womenswear product.
  • Coordinate the oversight, training, and performance evaluation of technical development team members and outside resources in the development of patterns and/or the creation of technical specifications and final measurement specifications for knit and woven products, including enforcement of fit consistency based on current fit blocks.
  • Collaborate with Style Commercialization team members and Sourcing Managers as necessary to review styles prior to handoff for patternability, manufacturability, trims, or style cost issues.
  • Assign Workload to Technical Design Team members to insure adherence to timelines.
  • Oversight of tracking information in Devstat, PLM or other available systems to track progress to calendar of patterning, prototyping and initial tech pack development.
  • Research and work with Design and Merchandising Management on the establishment and maintenance of silhouette fit block program that continues to meet the needs of Pendleton's fit requirements for both Womenswear and Menswear as necessary.
  • Act as Fit authority in fit sessions to insure consistent fit across product types.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and updates of Gerber patterning systems software and hardware.
  • Provide input as necessary to Pendleton QA standards manual on revisions and new applications.
  • Monitor change requests for pattern revisions to Apparel Styles in development and insure changes are validated and properly executed.
  • Administer Budget and Salary Administration as needed to stay within budget guidelines and provide input as necessary to annual budgets.

  • Skill requirements include:
  • Apparel or Business degree
  • Minimum of 10 years Apparel industry experience in Technical Design or Apparel Product Development, including patterning and specification development for both Men's and Women's woven and knit products
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role. Product knowledge through all phases of material and garment production
  • Familiarity with software patterning systems
  • Proficiency in computer software, including MS Windows and Outlook applications.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to take action where necessary to resolve conflict in a timely and consistent matter.
  • Position may entail occasions of work weeks in excess of 40 hours per week and may include occasional Saturdays.
