Job Description:
Collaborate with Technical Designers and Prototype Sewers to interpret Patterns and Cut out Prototype Sample garments according to specifications. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits.

Responsibilities:
  • Order primary and secondary fabrics and trims for prototypes based on initial specifications.
  • Cut out initial pattern pieces to create prototype garments maximizing use of materials and adhering to placement and matching instructions for each representative style.
  • Collaborate with other members of the garment development team on pattern and construction methodology to achieve consistency.
  • Work with Technical Designers and Sample Sewers to resolve issues with the execution of prototypes or samples.
  • Determine estimated fabric usages for styles for use in pre-costing.
  • Gather fabric and trims necessary to complete prototypes and forward to sample sewers as needed.
  • Work on special projects as assigned
  • Consistently demonstrate strong human relations skills and professionalism to resolve conflicts and contribute to a positive work environment.


  • Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in interpreting patterns and specifications for use in cutting out garments, including understanding of plaid matching and specific pattern color placement. Experience in hand cutting garment pieces to match patterns in a sample or production environment. Experience in sewing garments in a sample or production environment also very helpful. Ability to review and interpret color layouts of pattern pieces on fabric.


  • Other:
  • Standing for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Additional computer skills including familiarity with Excel, Outlook.
